Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY- Patrick E. Iorio (PI), age 79, passed away very peacefully at home, in bed, watching TV, remote in hand, glasses on, on November 4, 2023. Pat was born on December 30, 1943 at Albany Hospital to the late Josephine and Vincent Iorio. He was named after his uncle, Patrick Randio, who was killed in WW2.

After graduating from Saratoga Springs High School in 1961, he studied Art at Adirondack Community College and left some of his work there for the college to display. Then he attended Ithaca College for two years to complete his undergraduate degree. After considering career options, he enrolled in the Syracuse University Graduate School of Business to earn an MBA degree in Marketing and Media. His dream became to go to New York City and make his mark in the world of advertising, which he did! He worked at several major ad agencies climbing the ladder to Executive Vice President and Director of Media Operations and Communications. Two of his major accounts were Nintendo and Ralph Lauren. One of the perks of Advertising was being able to become an avid golfer where a lot of business could also be conducted.

We decided to come back home to Saratoga in 1988 to run our commercial real estate business, Palace Building Corporation, and have our son Andy grow up in the Saratoga area we always loved. It was also important to be closer to family.

Pat had fun working at Hot Stuff of Saratoga which later became Saratoga Salsa & Spice Company, one of our tenants, where he became an expert on the Scoville scale. Pat was also a pari-mutuel clerk at Saratoga Race Track for twenty years where he enjoyed meeting interesting as well as famous people. He continued to run Palace Building Corporation, which now has our current tenants, Uncommon Grounds and Silverwood Home & Gallery on Broadway.

The following is a tribute to his philosophy of life:

"I have fought the good fight... I have finished the race."

Timothy Ch 4: 7

In my own way... in my own time.

Pat is preceded in death by his brother Andrew Iorio, DO and his brother-in-law John Flavia. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jamie Flavia Iorio, his son Andy and his Wife, Jennifer Iorio, his grandchildren Joslin and James Landry, Nicholas Wainwright, his sister, Debra (Michael) McKeever, nieces Sarah, Jess and Addie McKeever and nephew Tom McKeever, his niece Jennifer (Tom) Taddeo, his great nieces, Lexi Iorio and Ava Taddeo, sister-in-law Debbie Smith, his sister-in-law Debbie Flavia, his niece MaryLou Moore and nephew Brian Flavia (Michèle) and several very special great nieces and great nephews.
