Wilton, NY - Our beloved Patrick Joseph Phillips, age 66, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Pat was born on June 5, 1952 in Johnson City, NY to John and Martha Phillips. He lived a life of ambition – balanced with love and humor. He and his wife of 30 years, Anita Norton Phillips, were deeply devoted and shared a loving life together. As a proud father, he considered his 4 children to be his greatest accomplishments and treated their partners as family: Lindsay (Alex) Giabanis, Ian (Victoria) Phillips, Evan (Evy) Phillips, and Aaron Phillips. He was also immensely proud to see his family growing through his grandchildren, Griffin Giabanis, Cooper Giabanis, and Otis Phillips. Anyone, including close friends and extended family, appreciated Pat's company. He was quick to share a drink, conversation, and his appreciation for his well-timed jokes, regardless of whether others did.

Pat's history is littered with personal accomplishments. Through sheer grit and determination, he rose from humble beginnings to earn a Bachelor's degree from Cornell University, a Master's degree from Russell Sage College, completed 42 years of military service with the Army Reserve, and succeeded in the corporate world before investing in himself and opening his own insurance agency based in downtown Saratoga. He loved his city, its history, traditions, and culture.

Pat was proud of his Irish heritage. He featured meaningful proverbs throughout his home, enjoyed traditional music, was an occasional bodhran (Irish drum) player, and relished some of their more famous libationary exports. Altogether, he had a soft spot for thoughtful word and music, a quality he instilled in his family.

Pat Phillips was a warm, compassionate, and fun-loving man. He worked tirelessly, welcomed all, loved unconditionally, and created lasting memories with those who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. and burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville.
