Greenfield Center, NY - Paul R. Colletti, M.D., died Friday, September 30, 2011 at his home. His wife and daughter were at his bedside. He was 77. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Paul and Katherine (Ferrara) Colletti. He attended Xavier High School in N.Y.C., continued his education at St. Peters College in Jersey City, N.J. and received his M.D. from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Paul interned at Washington D.C. General Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army in Verdun, France and was honorably discharged in February, 1964 having attained the rank of Captain. Paul practiced family medicine in Syosset, N.Y. from 1962 to 1995. He moved to Greenfield Center in 1995 and continued to practice medicine with the Family Medical Group in Rensselaer, N.Y. until 2010. All in all, he practiced medicine for 51 years. Paul was recently honored with the Northeast Health Founders Award for his years of service and leadership. Paul is survived by his wife Shannon Whalen Colletti; his five children, Paul J., Peter, Lisa, Mary Colletti McGroty and Danielle Colletti Pressimone; his sister Francine Colletti Jacoby; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
