Granville, NY- Paul Albert LaFontaine of Granville, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the age of 77. Paul was born in Plattsburgh, NY on May 23, 1944 to Albert LaFontaine and Agnes Bechard.
He attended Plattsburgh State College and graduated with a B.S. in Education. His teaching career was with the Northeastern Clinton Central School District. Paul was highly knowledgeable about the Civil War period and loved genealogy. He had a sharp memory for details and was always quick with a joke or pun. Paul was strong in his faith and involved with several religious organizations including the Salesian Missions and the Sacred Heart. He was surely welcomed into the Kingdom of God as a pious man. Paul had a huge heart, was well loved by his family and friends and he will be missed dearly.
Paul is survived by his brother; Robert (Anna Bethlen) of Plattsburgh, and 2 sisters; Carol (Edward) Frail of Saratoga Springs, and Lisa (Bill) Middlebrook of Colorado. Paul was predeceased by his twin brother, Peter. He is also survived by his nieces; Deborah Collins and Diane Padalino; grand-nieces and nephews include Michael and Ryan Collins, Nicholas and Alexander Padalino, and Kristina and Patrick Middlebrook.
A private burial in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Champlain, NY will be held at a later date. Mass cards as a condolence in Paul's name may be obtained by contacting St. Mary's Church, 86 Church Street, PO Box 368, Champlain, NY, 518-298-8244. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
