Saratoga Springs, NY - Paul Antone Robbens, 81, passed away at his home on August 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was born on July 24, 1942, in New York City, New York. Paul was a kind and gentle soul who had heart of gold.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Spain) Robbens, and their five children: Christine Morrissey (Mike), Karen McIntosh (Rob), Paul Robbens, Mark Robbens, Matt Robbens (Mara). He was a proud grandfather to Maggie, Laura, Sean, Catherine, Chris, Billy, Julia, Antone, Ava, Greyson, Willa, and Harlen, and a great-grandfather to Derek, Dylan, Sawyer, Eli, and Violet. His face would light up when his grandchildren and great grandchildren would visit.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Robbens, his maternal mother, Florence Mateyka, his mother, Rosa Robbens, and his sister, Lenni Erb.
Paul had a successful career in the corporate world, working for the Mobile Oil Company for five years before joining the Longview Fiber Company. He dedicated 38 years of service to the company, ultimately retiring in 2007 as the Vice President of Sales.
He ran the Biddy Basketball program at St. Peter's for many years. He enjoyed mentoring the players and was looked up to by so many as a great coach. Paul was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending his vacations on the beach in Pine Point, Maine. He also loved Sundays at the track with his family. He volunteered for Section II basketball for many years. In his retirement, Paul found joy in giving back to his community. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Visitors Center. He was always supporting and cheering on his children and grandchildren in their sports activities.
Paul will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His kind and supportive nature touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed.
Relatives and friends may call from 5-8pm, Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-584-5373).
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11am, Friday, August 18, 2023 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue, followed by burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Paul's name to a charity of one's choice.
