Saratoga Springs - Paul E. Woodley, 97, peacefully passed away at Saratoga Hospital on March 3, 2024. He was born December 2, 1926, he was the son of the late Bonnie and Claude Woodley, and he grew up in Warsaw, NY.
Paul graduated from Warsaw High School in 1944 and served his country with honor during World War II as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Forces 1944 – 1946.
He graduated from State University of New York in 1951. Paul married the late Janice L. (Sorensen) Woodley in 1949, they lived and raised their family in Saratoga Springs.
Paul dedicated his career to retail management as the manager at F. W. Woolworth on Broadway, Saratoga Springs and Sears in Colony Center. Paul was highly respected by colleagues and customers.
He retired in 1991 and spent most of his time working around the house. He loved spending time with the neighbors on Jackson Street. Paul is well known for his tomato garden in the summer. He will always be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Paul will be remembered fondly by his family including his three daughters and one son, Constance (Donald) Buchholz of Chesapeake, Va., Rebecca (Craig) Ritter of Spring, TX, JoAnn Shirley and Douglas Woodley and his fiancée, Deborah Riegel of Saratoga Springs; six grandchildren, Robert Shirley, Jessalyn Shirley, Samantha Bowers, George Buchholz, Julianna DuRose and Sarah Lodico; and ten great-grandchildren, Andrew, Morgan and Sarah Buchholz, Aiden and Regan DuRose, Lauren Mendez, Alyse and Dean Bowers, Gavin and Grant Lodico.
Relatives and friends may call from 5:00pm – 7:00pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373).
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at 2:30pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road Schuylerville, NY.
