BOULDER, Colo. — Perrin William Dake passed away on Aug. 7, 2022, due to a swimming accident at Friends Lake in Chestertown, NY. He was 66 years old.

Perrin was born on Halloween day of 1955 in Greenfield, NY, to his late parents, Charles Stark Dake and Phyllis Edmunds Dake. He spent his early childhood at The Hill in Greenfield before moving to Saratoga Springs, NY, with his parents; his late brother, Charles Dake the VII; his brother, Bradford Dake; and his sister, Heidi Keogh. Perrin later met his wife, Estelle Dake, while living in Boston and the two married in Wellesley, Mass., in 1985. His travels took him from South Carolina for sailing and golfing to Massachusetts, where he started his first business, and finally to the mountains of Colorado, where he loved to ski and built his first home. Together with his family, Perrin later built his dream home on the shores of Friends Lake, which he referred to as his "happy place," as the house was often filled with family and friends.

Perrin received his undergraduate degree in labor law and personal and industrial relations at Syracuse University, where he played on the rugby team and participated in social events that led him to meet many lifelong friends. He later completed his master's degree in finance at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, before starting his first business, Dynacom Telecommunications, in Wellesley. Perrin went on to build another successful telecommunication company—called Morning Star—in Boulder, Colo., while serving as a ski patrol for Eldora Mountain Resort. He continued the legacy of his family by serving as a member of the Board of Directors for Stewart's Shops for 30 years, which included his work as a benefactor for the Build-Your-Own-Sundae Scholarship program.

Perrin is survived by his wife Estelle Leo Dake, his four children and two grandchildren. His son, Graham Vaughn Dake, lives in Denver with his wife, Caitlin; his eldest daughter, Tatiana Dake Myer, lives in Miami with her husband, Tyler, and their son, Jack Perrin Myer; his middle daughter, Veronica Rose Dake, lives in Idaho with her son, Corbin Charles Dake; and his youngest daughter, Juliette Rita Dake, lives in Grand Junction, Colo.

Together, with his family, Perrin enjoyed skiing, scuba diving, eating seafood, riding his Indian motorcycle and driving his Aston Martin. He never passed up an opportunity to win at a game of billiards or attend a Grateful Dead concert. He had a love for boating and spent many summers at Friends Lake enjoying his custom wooden racing boat, which he affectionately named Stella Blue after his wife, Estelle. Perrin's true passion in life was his family and friends—he was a larger-than-life storyteller who enjoyed nothing more than time spent with his favorite people.

The entire Dake family wishes to express their gratitude to the Warren County Sheriff's Department, New York State Police Department and all search and rescue team members for their kindness and professionalism during Perrin's recovery. The Dake family also wishes to thank everyone who has made an impact in Perrin's life and those who have shown their continued support for the family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Perrin's visitation on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022 from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff  Funeral Home at 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
