Miami, Florida - Peter A. Lynett, 63, a former resident of Saratoga Springs, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Monday, May 28, 2012 in Florida. Born on June 29, 1948 in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Doherty) Lynett and was a 1966 graduate of St. Peter's Academy on Broadway. Following two older brothers into the US Navy, he entered in June, 1966 and served as a cook and a powderman on 5 inch guns aboard the U.S.S. Providence (CLG-6) during the Vietnam War. Pete later worked as a chef at various restaurants in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Florida, following his honorable discharge from the Navy. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Lynett; a daughter, Jenna Lynett Boswell of Virginia; his step-daughters, Lisa (Ray) Carcases of Miami and Stephanie (Matthew) House of Amissville, VA; his grandchildren, Ian Lynett and Chloe Boswell of King George, VA, Danielle and Rebeka House of Amissville, Nicholas and Sydney Carcases of Miami; one sister, Barbara L. Cudney and two brothers, Michael (Rosemarie) and John David Lynett, all of Saratoga Springs and many nieces and nephews. Although Pete resided away from his hometown for most of his life, he loved Saratoga Springs and came back in August as often as he could, to attend the races and catch up with longtime friends.
