Saratoga Springs, NY - Dr. Peter S. Tang died peacefully at home on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was 82. Born on Nov. 19, 1928 in Tuguegarao, The Philippines, he was a resident of Saratoga Springs since 1971. He graduated from the University of St. Thomas in Manila, The Philippines with a degree in medicine. He obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Peter was a physician at Saratoga Hospital for 37 years, retiring in 2008. He was an avid racing enthusiast who loved attending the races at the Saratoga track. Peter thoroughly enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of all the men in the jockey's room. He was an excellent chef who was always eager to demonstrate and share his recipes and skills, as well as "supervise" in the kitchen. Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years Carolyn (Fleet) Tang; two daughters, Kiara Tang of Saratoga Springs and Tara Tang and son-in-law Sean Gordon of Austin, Texas; one grandson, Riley Alexander Gordon also of Austin, Texas and several nieces and nephews in The Philippines and Canada. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at Our Lady's Chapel, St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at St. Clement's Church by the Rev. Timothy F. Keating C.Ss.R.
