Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Philip J. Stanley on October 28, 2024, at the age of 63, after a long, well-fought battle with cancer.

Philip was born to Eleanor and George Stanley on May 13, 1961 in Ridgewood, New Jersey. He would spend his childhood in Hawthorne, New Jersey with his four siblings, Robert, George, Patricia, and Rosemary. He was proud to be from New Jersey and spoke well of his childhood.

Philip married the love of his life, Jolene Kent, in Batavia, New York, in 1992. Their 32-year marriage was filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Together, they had three daughters: Madison, Margaret, and Kathryn. Over the past years, Philip gained a son in Adam Farber, Madison's longtime partner. Phil was passionate about fatherhood and took great joy in raising his daughters. He was actively involved in coaching their youth basketball teams and played a significant role in their lives, often acting as a second father to many of their friends. The Stanley household is a beloved gathering place for their family, friends, and neighbors, known for its welcoming and open atmosphere.

Phil had a deep passion for sports, particularly his love for the Minnesota Vikings and his daughter Madison's alma mater, the University of Connecticut. For the past 20 years, he could easily be found at the Saratoga Race Course, always sitting at the same picnic tables with his recognizable tablecloths. He cherished his time living in Saratoga Springs and took great joy in being a local.

Phil Stanley, a beacon of kindness and love, will forever reside in our hearts. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, providing solace in the knowledge that his spirit lives on through the love he instilled in us.

Philip was predeceased by his parents George and Eleanor Stanley, his sister Rosemary McCann, his sister-in-law Lorraine Stanley, and his father- and mother-in-law Robert and Gwendolyn Kent.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene Stanley, his daughters, Madison (Adam Farber) Stanley, Margaret Stanley, and Kathryn Stanley, his brothers Robert and George Stanley, and his sister, Patricia Stanley. He will remain beloved Uncle Phil to his many nieces and nephews.
