Obituary

Wilton, NY - Our wonderful Mom, Phyllis Ann Veeder (née Royce), passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020.

She is survived by her four daughters: Wendy Veeder (Jackie), Janis Veeder, Pamela Veeder (Stacia) and Priscilla Veeder DelGrosso; three granddaughters, Cassie Burt (Casey), Natasha Marrone (Nicholas), Riley Kingma-Veeder and one great granddaughter, Liliana Marrone.  She was pre-deceased by the love of her life, her husband of 59 years Wallace Veeder, her parents Ruth and Albert Royce and her son-in-law Glenn DelGrosso.

Phyllis was born in Ripley, New York on March 29, 1925.  She graduated from Ripley Central School and attended Grove City College and Rochester Business Institute.

She was a homemaker while her children were young and then went to work as a kindergarten teaching assistant and later a reading instructor for high school students.  She loved working with students of all ages and was dedicated to her job. Many of her students stayed in contact with her throughout the years.  Mom also had a talent for drawing, was very creative and was known for her quick wit.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and word jumbles.  She loved spending winters in Arizona with Dad, their many trips to Las Vegas as well as their trip to Hawaii and their train excursion across Canada.  She always looked forward to attending the LPGA tournament each year it was held in Corning, New York.  When we were growing up our house was always full of our friends and that extended through our college years and beyond.  All of our friends said, both then and now, that they always felt so welcome and they felt as if they had a second set of parents.

Mom was so treasured and will be forever missed.  She will be buried alongside our Dad in Addison Rural Cemetery, Addison, New York.  A memorial service for family members will be held at a later date.
