Pierrette Baldwin

Gansevoort, NY- Pierrette Baldwin, 91, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Saratoga Springs, New York. Born on September 22, 1934, in Homecourt, France, Pierrette lived a remarkable life filled with resilience, love, and dedication to her family and patrons.

A survivor of World War II, Pierrette often spoke with deep gratitude for the American soldiers who liberated her hometown. Her admiration for the American GIs blossomed into a personal love story when she met her own "GI Joe," Joseph Baldwin. As an only child, Pierrette left her homeland in 1954 to begin a new chapter in the United States with Joseph and their infant son, Pierre. Together, they built a life rooted in love and shared dreams.

Pierrette and Joseph’s partnership extended beyond their family life into their professional endeavors. In the early 1960s, Pierrette became a beloved figure in the restaurant industry as she and her husband operated The Garrison in Lake George. In 1964, she and Joseph opened Chez Pierre Restaurant in Wilton, New York. For decades, Chez Pierre became a cherished establishment under Pierrette's care. Known for her warm hospitality and vibrant personality, she greeted patrons with grace and often entertained them with songs from her French homeland—particularly Edith Piaf classics—and American favorites from the 1950s. Her passion for creating memorable dining experiences left an indelible mark on all who visited.

Pierrette was predeceased by her devoted husband, Joseph Baldwin. Together they shared a beautiful journey that spanned continents and decades.

She is survived by her four children: Pierre Baldwin (Cheryl Perkins), Patricia Baldwin (Keith Ashby), Patrick Baldwin (Susan Baldwin), and Pia Baldwin Field (Lincoln Field). She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Danielle Casile (Marc Casile), Natalie Baldwin (Amado Tucker), Patrick Baldwin (Brittany Buelow), Elizabeth Burst (Dillion Burst), Tyler Field (Jillian Field), Kelsey Mannix (Benjamin Mannix), Brayden Field, and Lincoln Field (Lila DeLuke); as well as five great-grandchildren: Adeline (Baldwin) Pasco, Olivia Casile, Callie Field, Henry Joseph Mannix, and Blakely Baldwin.

Pierrette’s legacy is one of resilience, gratitude, and joy. From surviving the hardships of war to building a thriving business and nurturing a loving family across generations, she lived a life that inspired all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched.

May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
