Malta, NY - Ralph Robert D'Abbraccio, 85, passed away on August 19, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital, after a short illness. Ralph was born in Manhattan on June 30,1928. He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, and served in the Air National Guard in the Korean conflict from 1951 to 1953. Ralph was married to Corrine Polito on June 30, 1951, for 45 years. He worked as the president of D'Abbraccio Carting in NYC for 42 years. Those who knew him were often regaled at his humorous stories about working in the carting industry in the city. Ralph was also the proprietor the Mobil gas station at exit 13 in Malta. He enjoyed baseball and was an avid New York Yankee fan. He also loved good Italian food and was a very good cook until mobility issues prevented him from his cooking hobby. Ralph is survived by his two grandchildren, Robert and Matthew, whom he spoiled every chance he got. In addition he is survived by his only daughter, Mary-Roberta; son-in-law, Mark; sisters, Joan and Mary and brother, Mike. Ralph also leaves behind his two best friends for several decades, Mike and Robert (Uncle Bob). Ralph is predeceased by his wife Corrine and sister Georgiana. A funeral service will be held at 6pm Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. A remembrance will be held at Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, NY, later in the week, by Pastor Kevin Mahoney. Ralph's ashes will be buried next to his wife Corrine. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Northeast Kidney Foundation, 99 Troy Rd., East Greenbush, NY 12061.
