Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Raymond E. Heslin, of Ballston Ave., passed away Saturday (Dec. 10, 2011) at Saratoga Hospital. He was 85. Born on Oct. 27, 1926 in Cohoes, NY, he was athe son of the late Lymyra (Mary) Joyce Heslin and Raymond E. Heslin, Sr. He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He retired from Albany International and enjoyed his retirement at his summer home at Lincoln Pond, senior trips and sharing time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one sister, Dorothy Heslin Rock and his wife of over 50 years, Veronica (Ronnie) Blair Heslin. Survivors include two children, Raymond W. (wife Gale) Heslin of Cohoes and Deborah (husband John) Heslin McKown of Waterford; grandchildren, Dawn Cunniff Gratton, Daniel Mahoney, Raymond W. Heslin, Jr., Brian Heslin, Casey Heslin Yetto, Sean McKown, Scott McKown, Kelly McKown Sandercox, Christopher McKown, Kerry McKown St. Pierre; their spouses and several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family of Philomena (Robert) Murphy, Mary Anne (Jim) LaPointe, Joseph (Ro) Caputo and their children and grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his companion, Rachel Parisis Caputo, who went ahead to guide him home in May, 2011. A special thank you to all his friends and staff of Raymond Watkin Apartments, who always join together to help and watch out for one another and to the staff and doctors at Saratoga Hospital. As per Ray's request, family and friends are invited to share their condolences from 9 to 10am Wednesday (Dec. 14, 2011) in Our Lady's Chapel in the parish center of St. Clement's Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
