Saratoga Springs, NY - Raymond S. Meers of Newton Avenue, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Saratoga Hospital. He was 78. Born on February 14, 1934 to the late Madeline Luse Meers and Harry Meers of Whitehall, NY. Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanette Harrington Meers; a son, Steven (Janet) Meers; his grandchildren, Marisa (Joseph) Pregent, Jonathan (Amanda) Meers and Zachary Meers; five great grandchildren, Lacy, Lilly, Alyssa and Joseph Pregent and Madison Meers and two brothers, Edward (Betty) Meers and Thomas Meers. He is also predeceased by a daughter, Brenda and one grandson, Aaron Henderer. A member of the US Naval Reserves for eight years, he formerly worked for Van Raalte and Company, Saratoga Knitting Mill and Saratoga/Warren and Washington County BOCES. A Little League coach for many years, Ray was a proud member of Adirondack Post 70 American Legion, Saratoga County Voiture 40&8 and the East Worcester Fish & Game Club. Ray enjoyed spending time with family and his many friends at the family camp in the Catskills and his hobbies included hunting, camping and most of all auto racing with his special cousin, Ronnie. Ray enjoyed all animals, especially his dog Pepsi, and he loved life, food and racing and Everybody Loved Raymond. A special thank you is expressed by the family to Bert and Bob Fuller for always being there and also to his beloved and extended Golden Corral Family. Private services were held Monday, April 2, 2012 at the family plot in St. Peters Cemetery, West Avenue.
