Obituary

Rena Dyke, 85, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 7, 2025. Her presence was a true gift to everyone who knew her, lighting up every room she entered with her infectious smile, quick wit, and a knack for making others laugh with her playful sense of humor.

Rena, born October 11, 1939, was the youngest of 11 children born to the late William and Lena Ernst and grew up on Ernst Road, a place she always held dear.

She shared a beautiful life with her soulmate, Robert, who preceded her in 2013. Their love was nothing short of extraordinary, a lifelong bond built on deep devotion and partnership. Together, they raised three children who brought her immense pride and joy.

Rena Mae was an incredible mother and grandmother, always putting family first and cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones. She had a gift for connecting with people—whether it was over a warm cup of tea, during her years working at TJ Maxx or Crafters Gallery, or through her favorite crafts that brought creativity and beauty into her life.

She is survived by her three children, Colleen Shannon, Carolyn (Todd Zinn) and Robert Dyke (Bonnie); siblings, Betty Cleveland and Larry Ernst; beloved grandchildren, Amy Pyne (Johnny), Michael Shannon (Morgan), Patti Furler (Eric), Kelly Shannon, Danny Shannon (Nora), Kayla LeClair, Jennifer LeClair, Brandon Zinn (Kendra), Marisa Zinn,  Alicia Gardineer (Adam), Kaitlyn Vandewater (James), and Dustin Dyke; 11 great-grandchildren with whom she was blessed to have and brought her endless joy; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Rena is predeceased by her parents, loving husband, Robert; and siblings, William, George, Herbert, Albert, Ralph, Amos, Mary Louise and Elsie.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Memory Care Unit at Wesley for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided to Rena in her final years.

Donations in Rena's honor can be made to The Wesley Health Care Center memory care unit activities fund at https://www.thewesleycommunity.org/wesley-foundation/donate-now/
