Obituary

Greenfield Center, NY - Richard Lewis Arnold, 80, passed away at Saratoga Hospital on Sunday, May 27, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born May 7, 1932 in the Town of Milton, NY. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War, 1952-1954, at which time he met and married Marion Bright of Elizabeth City, NC. Since then they have resided in Greenfield Center. Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a logger and later retired in 1992 from the Laborers Union Local 157. Richard, known as "Dick" by his close friends, was best known for his love of hard work and he cherished spending time with his family. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved going to local dirt tracks. He took every opportunity to travel or just go for a ride. In his earlier years he loved to hunt and fish every chance he got. Richard was predeceased by his children, Cynthia Bonds and Richard Arnold, Jr. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Marion Bright Arnold; his daughters, Betty (Paul) Cameron of Greenfield Center and Carol (Stan) Cameron of Lake Luzerne; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his brother, Raymond (Barbara) Arnold of Middle Grove, his sister-in-law, Doris Arnold of Greenfield Center and many nieces and nephews. Richard's family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Saratoga Hospital, as well as to Jimmy Older for his close friendship with Richard in recent years. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8pm Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will be at 11am Friday, June 1, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at North Milton Cemetery, Milton.
