Saratoga Springs, NY - Richard James King, 65, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013. Born on Aug. 21, 1947 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Robert and Ruth Bennett King. Richard lived all his life in Saratoga and worked for W.J. Grande, where he learned to be a skilled taper and home builder. He then worked for Roohan Properties until retirement, developing close friendships with the Roohan work family. He considered them his second family and a joy to work with. Richard liked hunting and fishing and had fond memories of his hunting pals. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Saratoga Council 246 and was a third degree member. In retirement he became an avid reader, enjoyed movies and particularly enjoyed talking with all the many friends he had made throughout the years. Survivors include his brothers, Robert James King and his wife Frances of Saratoga Springs and Michael Paul King and his wife Elizabeth of Greenville, SC; cousins, Joseph Bennett, Elizabeth Allen, Marie Ellis; nephews, Paul King, Ammon King, Jason King, Robert Jay King, Justin King, James Carero and niece Christine Hier. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Gerard Joseph King who passed away in 2009. Gerard was a loving brother and a loyal and caring friend. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7pm Wed. March 27, 2013 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will follow at 7pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
