Saratoga Springs, NY- Richard T. Kirkpatrick, known affectionately as “Rick,” passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2026 after a courageous 9-year battle with multiple cancers. Born on November 14, 1951, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Richard and Maxine Green Kirkpatrick.
Rick was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, and loyal friend. He held many things close to his heart, but nothing meant more to him than his family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and took great pride in supporting those he loved.
Rick’s quick wit and easy sense of humor brightened every room. With a well‑timed remark or a knowing grin, he had a way of bringing laughter and light to the people around him.
Rick was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and SUNY Plattsburgh. He dedicated his professional career to public service, working for the New York State Department of Transportation, where he served as an Engineer in Charge. He also served his community as a member of the Town of Wilton Zoning Board.
An avid golfer, Rick spent decades enjoying the game as a member of McGregor Links Golf Club. He was also a dedicated sports fan, cheering faithfully for the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. Rick especially enjoyed lobster bakes at home and treasured annual family trips to Cape Cod. He also loved traveling to Disney World and Myrtle Beach, creating many lasting memories with his family.
Rick shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Connie, and was especially fond of her Eggs Benedict, which he often raved about. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and togetherness.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Connie; his daughter, Meghan Myers; his son, Timothy Kirkpatrick; and his cherished grandchildren, Kylie Myers, Kaleb Myers, Ewan Kirkpatrick, and Isla Kirkpatrick. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Kirkpatrick (Deb), and his sister, Shelley Roys.
Relatives and friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-584-5373), followed by a funeral home service at 4:00 p.m.
Rick will be remembered for his kindness, devotion to family, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
