Richard T. Meron passed through heaven's gates on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Saratoga Hospital. He was born December 12, 1944, in Newport, RI, the son of Francis Theodore and Rosalie Chapman Meron.
After a brief residence in Schoharie, NY, he grew up in Raymertown, NY. Graduating from Tamarac High School in 1963, he joined the US Navy, and was stationed on the USS Austin, LPD-4, based out of Norfolk, VA, as an E-5 Aviations' Boatsman's mate.

Richard was a man of many hobbies. Over the years he enjoyed cars, guns, knives, watches, and golf. More recently he and his wife, Kathryn, traveled frequently. Some of their favorite trips were cruising the Mississippi, Snake, and Columbia rivers on the American Queen Line paddlewheels. Their most memorable trip was last September, spending three weeks in Scotland, enjoying the scenery, history, culture and food.
Last spring he was thrilled to travel to Washington DC with other veterans on the Leatherstocking Honor Flight. He was truly humbled by the respect and appreciation shown to our veterans.
He loved animals, especially cats, dogs, and Heather, the Highland Coo that he fell in love with at Trossachs Woollen Mill in Scotland.
Richard is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Kathryn Knapp Meron, two daughters, Kimberlie (Gary) Bourdeau and Stephanie (Michael) Moll, two granddaughters, Chelsea and Ashleigh Bourdeau, a nephew, David Meron, Jr., and three cousins.
