IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Thomas
Rosebrook
June 20, 1950 – October 4, 2025
Richard Thomas Rosebrook, 75, of Porter Corners, NY, passed away on October 4, 2025, surrounded by the comfort of his family.
Born June 20, 1950, in Trenton, NJ, at age 6 his family moved to South Glens Falls, NY. His childhood on Merritt Road was filled with activity — building a tree fort in the big oak, racing bikes, playing kickball and kick the can, riding the neighbor's horses, and joining sleep outs with friends, often sneaking over to raid the girls' side.
Rick believed deeply in the value of hard work. He held many jobs that reflected his work ethic and versatility, from paperboy and working the graveyard shift at the paper mill to real estate agent and bartender. Most notably, he devoted 37 years to teaching — 29 at Greenfield Elementary and 8 at Maple Avenue Middle School — a career through which he made a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. During this time, he was most proud of:
-Starting a school wide reading program
-Conceiving the concept for the cross country ski loan program
-Beginning the 5th grade Business Days program, using the "Rosebucks" money system
-Starting and coordinating the 5th grade trip to Boston
-Maintaining the "Wall Of Fame"
-Framing students' artwork for the school halls
Rick treasured his time at his house on Lake George, "The Camp," hosting numerous parties and boat trips for family and friends. He was an avid skier and a proud volunteer for National Ski Patrol at West Mountain for more than 40 years. He had the honor of serving as a patroller during the 1980 Winter Olympics, where he witnessed the historic U.S. hockey team win gold. Always up for an adventure, he loved to bow hunt, had his pistol permit, enjoyed overlanding, and once Ran with the Bulls in Pamplona.
He was a true Mr. Fix-It, always ready to lend a hand. Whether tackling a household repair, helping with a renovation, or building something from scratch, he was able to fix just about anything — and did so gladly. Among his many projects, Rick took great pride in saving and restoring an 1872 Victorian rowhouse in Saratoga.
He cherished the time spent with his family and many friends. He was the son of Rodney and Rosann Rosebrook (both deceased), and is survived by his wife, JoAnn, five children, Matthew (Carrie), Michael, Jonathan (Stephanie), Ashley (Shawn), and Nicholas, eight grandchildren, three siblings, David (Judy), Leslie (David), and Scott, sister-in-law Corrine, brother-in-law Jack (Roma), brother-in-law Bruce, as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
