Saratoga Springs - Rita Agosta, formerly of 67 Monroe St., passed away Friday evening (Dec. 26, 2008) at the Wesley Health Care Center, Lawrence Street. She was 96. Born on April 23, 1912 in Corinth, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Forte) Orto and a graduate of Corinth High School. She attended Eastman Business School and also Russell Sage College in Troy. She was a homemaker and also employed for 18 years at the Skidmore College library. She retired as supervisor in 1986. A member of the Senior Citizens Center of Saratoga Springs, she was a member of AARP and St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church. She is predeceased by her husband, Louis J. Agosta, who died Sept. 1, 1981. Her surviving siblings are Victor and John Orto of Corinth, NY and her surviving sons are John V. Scavone of Terra Haute, IN and Paul R. Scavone of Fairport, NY; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday (Jan. 2, 2009) in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave., and burial followed in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Avenue. There were no calling hours. Memorials may be made in her name to Catholic Family and Community Services, 142 Regent St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
