Ballston Spa, NY - Robert C. Armstrong Jr., of Rowland Street, died suddenly Friday (March 19, 2010) as a result of a motor vehicle accident on the Northway. He was 47. Born on May 25, 1962 in Saratoga Springs, NY he was the son of the late Margaret A. (Benn) Armstrong and Robert C. Armstrong, Sr. He was a 1980 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and as an avid jazz enthusiast, he excelled at playing the trumpet in the high school's jazz band. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by paternal grandparents, L. Carlton and Lena S. Armstrong and maternal grandparents, George and Eileen (Stewart) Benn. Survivors include his sister, Wendy Armstrong of Wilton; three aunts, Jerilyn (Michael) Towner of Saratoga Springs, Maureen (Joseph) VanDerwerken of Hudson Falls and Elma (Joseph) Disonell of Selkirk and seven cousins, Kristine Grodsky of Long Island, Lauren Grisio of Clifton Park, Michael R. Towner of Saratoga Springs, David Disonell of Selkirk, Dawn Disonell of Glenmont, Joseph VanDerwerken of Rochester and Michael VanDerwerken of Glens Falls. Private funeral services will be conducted in the Bethesda Episcopal Church by the Rev'd Canon Thomas T. Parke, rector. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Maplewood Cemetery.
