"Bob" Collins
March 15, 1928 – June 7, 2017
Scotia - Robert H. "Bob" Collins, 89, of Scotia, NY, died peacefully on June 7, 2017 at home. Born on March 15, 1928 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Harry Brumley Collins and Irene (LaFountain) Collins. He moved to Torrington, CT in 1960. Bob worked in the textile industry for 40 years.
Mr. Collins was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the amphibious forces in England and France. You could always find him sitting in his recliner watching western movies or his favorite shows. Bob enjoyed smoking his cigar and doing his crossword puzzles. He was also an avid Braves fan and memorabilia collector.
Bob is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Charles) Griffin of Saratoga Springs, two sons, John of Los Angeles, and Brian (Heather) Collins of Caroga Lake, and ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his son, Robert Michael Collins.
Mr. Collins was an American Legion member of Morgan Weir Post 27 of Litchfield, CT, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 296 Winstead, CT, and the Slovak Catholic Sokol Club of Torrington, CT.
The family would like to thank all of his caregivers and staff for their dedication.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made in his name to Operation Homefront (1355 Central Parkway South, Suite 100, San Antonio, TX 78232).
