Delmar, NY – Robert L. Dowen, Sr., 86, passed away February 22, 2020 at St. Peter's Hospital.

Born in Saratoga Springs, NY on December 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Effie B. Dowen. Robert had 6 brothers and 7 sisters.

A loving father and devoted husband to the late Evelyn A. (Weaver) Dowen, Robert spent many years in the home repair and remodeling industry. He loved to share his knowledge, and teach new people his trade. Robert was involved for years in the Troop 73 annual pancake supper (which is a major fundraising effort in the troop), and donated significant time and labor to building projects first at Stratton Mountain Scout reserve in Vermont and later at Rotary Scout Reserve in Postenkill. Along with being a hard worker- both in his career and volunteer work, he enjoyed camping and canoe trips with the scouts and his two sons.

Robert is survived by his sons Robert L. (Deborah) Dowen, Jr. and John E. (Maureen) Dowen; his grandchild Andrew (Amanda) Dowen; and his great grandchildren Delia and Selwyn.

Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518) 584-5373 with a funeral home service directly after at 11am. Following the service, there will be a gathering at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
