Greenfield Center, NY - Robert L. Harris of Rt. 9N passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at his home surrounded by loved ones and children. He was 79. Born on March 12, 1930 in Greenfield Center, he was the son of the late Lester and Grace (Campbell) Harris. Robert served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked for several years at BOCES on Henning Rd. in Saratoga Springs. Robert liked old cars but his greatest joy in life was his family and spending time with them. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Jeanne who passed away Sept. 21, 2009 and a sister, Norma. Survivors include his children, Thompson and David Harris of Corinth, Jeff Harris of Porter Corners, John Harris and Barbara (David) Schmerhorn of Gansevoort, Steven and Craig Harris of Greenfield and Roger (Winnie) Harris of Wilton; a sister, Helen Millington Harris of Corinth; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as one niece and one nephew. Relatives and friends may call from 11 to 12noon Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in the family plot in Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield. Donations in Robert's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
