Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY- Robert "Bob" J. Krulcik passed away at age 56 on Tuesday evening, November 15 from complications of pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by family, during the first snowfall of the season.

Bob was born in Elmira, NY on June 21, 1966 to James (Jim) Krulcik and the late Mary Ann (Green) Krulcik. Bob grew up in Delmar, NY, a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School '84. Bob met Tracey during his senior year of high school and knew that they would get married someday. Bob was a graduate of Clarkson University, where he received both his Bachelor of Science degree and MBA, graduating with high honors. Bob and Tracey got married the summer before their final year of college, in 1988, and moved to Tinton Falls, NJ for Bob's job at AT&T as a Market Planner. He quickly transitioned to a role in Sales, realizing his passion for the daily challenges that come with learning new technologies and driving value for customers. Bob and Tracey later moved back to the Capital District, residing mostly in Saratoga Springs. Bob's career continued to include Senior VP & General Manager roles in Sales, Business Development, and Communications at various companies, including MapInfo, Schema, Alteryx, and his last decade spent at Open-Xchange. Bob's main career focuses included telecommunications, sales, software sales, and development. He made many wonderful friends throughout his career.

Bob's childhood was defined by learning tricks on his bicycles, playing with Evel Knievel and Billy Blastoff toys, doing the local paper route and lawn care services, buying vinyl records and building his Tears for Fears collection, mastering Atari video games, playing sports with his dad, going to Lake George with his aunt, uncle, and cousin Brian, as well as visiting his beloved grandmother in Albany, NY and his grandparents in Piney Fork, OH.

Bob was known for his effervescent personality: his loud laugh, optimistic perspective, and never-ending zest for life. As an adult, he filled his days with family time, playing sports (golf and skiing were his favorite because they were always done in the most beautiful places), and flying his 1978 Beechcraft Bonanza V35B airplane most weekends after getting his pilot's license at age 50. Bob was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), especially enjoying the opportunity to bring local teenaged cadets on their first plane ride. Bob liked to play golf and be part of the Men's League at the Saratoga Golf & Polo Club, as well as play tennis, racquetball, squash, and pick-up basketball over the years. He had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a second-degree black belt in traditional Japanese karate. Bob loved to drink wine and watch the rain from his front porch, roast chestnuts while watching Sunday football, blast 1980s music (or country music, to his family's dismay!), eat tons of chocolate every day (either in his 9 ginormous mocha lattes a day or especially in ice cream form) and cheer his kids on from the sidelines. Bob always told his kids, "There's no such word as 'can't.' You can do anything you set your mind to!" He truly felt that anything was possible and hoped others knew that anything they wanted was within their grasp if they just "put their mind to it!"

Bob and his wife, Tracey, enjoyed 38 years of holding hands, long walks, huge ice cream cones, Tracey's pies and cookies, vacations, hours on the beach (such as in Kauai and Aruba), and especially enjoying every minute with their children, Kristi and Scott.

Bob is pre-deceased by his wonderful son, Scott, and mother, Mary Ann (Green) Krulcik. Bob is survived by his dear wife, Tracey (Barbagallo); daughter, Kristi Krulcik (Marco Anichini); father, Jim Krulcik; sister, Karen (David) Veltman; nephew, Brandon Smith; grandmother, Mary Krulcik; aunt Patricia Guzy; aunt Margaret Johanson; his loving in-laws, June Sano (Christopher DePersia) and Paul Barbagallo (Jeannette Walker); many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended in-law family members, and many friends from around the globe.
