Saratoga Springs, NY - Robert Burton Little Moe Levo passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital, losing his 18 month battle with lung cancer. He was 74. Born on June 16, 1936, in Saratoga Springs, NY to the late Anthony Tuffy and Harriet (Richmond) Levo, he was the youngest of three children. He was a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and retired from Skidmore College after dedicating over 25 years as a grounds and maintenance worker. His love for animals always meant new family pets for those that he found abandoned at the college. Robert enjoyed watching football, following horse and car races but what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He could often be found at the center of family gatherings telling stories about his mischievous childhood and teen years. Robert enjoyed being the life of the party. In his later years, he loved taking his chances on scratch off lottery tickets and took great pleasure in writing poetry for others. He was an avid reader of anything related to the Civil War and was able to recount thousands of facts relating to the Civil War. Robert is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 53 years, Sheila (Verrigni) Levo and his three devoted daughters, Tammy Podesva of Ballston Spa, Roberta (Donald) Thomas of Ballston Spa and Sheila (Antonio) Zarrella of Syracuse. Also surviving are his 5 beloved grandchildren with whom he truly loved to spend his time, Laura Elizabeth Podesva, Austin Robert Thomas, Salvatore Zarrella, Sabina Marie Zarrella and Antonio Zarrella Jr. along with his siblings, Angeline (Levo) Capone and Anthony F. Levo Jr. and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday June 1, 2011 from 10:30am-12:30pm at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1pm at St. Marys Church in Ballston Spa followed by his burial at St. Peters Cemetery in Saratoga Springs.
