Wilton, NY - Robert C. Lindahl, 79, of Gailor Rd., passed away on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born on March 15, 1937 in South Chicago, IL, he graduated high school in 1956 and spent sixteen years in both the National Guard (as a quartermaster) and US Army Reserves. He had worked as a bookkeeper for the former Ashton Industries, International Paper and was a former patrolman with the Saratoga Springs Police Dept. Bob was also employed for 38 years by General Foods Corporation in Saratoga Springs, prior to his retirement. Aside from his professional career, Bob was very proud of his volunteerism. He spent 32 years serving as a Little League baseball coach and manager for the Saratoga-Wilton Elks team and remained actively involved with numerous other Saratoga-Wilton P.B.O. Elks Lodge 161 youth activities, having been a member of the lodge for many years.
In addition to his parents, Clarence Lindahl, Mary Cote and step-fathers Windsor Cote and Ralph H. "Stubby" Robinson, he is also predeceased by his sister, Jean Jones.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Cherie) Lindahl of Wilton and Michael (Cheri) of Concord, NC; three grandchildren, Ryan Lindahl, Sarah Lindahl (Crane McCormick) and Tom (Jennifer) Gray; and three great-grandchildren, Jordyn Galvin, Marcus Galvin and Paislee Gray.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10am Wednesday (Feb. 1, 2017) at Greenfield Cemetery (Wilton Road). Further, a Celebration of life will be celebrated later that day from 5 to 8pm at the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge, 1 Elk Lane, Saratoga Springs.
Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373).
