IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Nicholas
Rose
February 13, 1943 – June 4, 2024
Mechanicville, NY – Ronald Nicholas Rose passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
A lifelong resident of Mechanicville, NY, "Ron" was born February 13, 1943 and graduated from Mechanicville High School in 1960.
After graduating, he served 4 years in the US Navy on the USS Sarsfield EDD. He worked as a machinist at GE in Schenectady for 38 years, as well as for Dyer Brothers blacktopping.
Ron could usually be found in his woodshop fixing something or making treasures for family and friends. If you needed something, he was your guy. He loved being Santa for children and grandchildren of family and friends. He always looked forward to the long day as Santa on the Toys for Tots train. He listened to the children and never rushed them. Ron coached Babe Ruth and Connie Mack baseball for many years. He enjoyed molding young players and watching them grow into young men.
He was an avid NY Yankees fan all his life; no matter what was going on, you knew it was "game time".
Ron was always whistling, humming or singing- something in a language only he understood.
Above all of these things what he cherished most was his family. He was happiest when he was around them in large numbers or small. He was always there- mentor, chauffer, coach, cheerleader, disciplinarian, defender, and jokester. Most of all, he was their rock.
His absence will be greatly missed by so many.
Ron is predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Josephine (Messore) Rose.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen (Marks); his 3 children Raymond Rose (Bridget), Lynne Jornov (Gary) and Nicholas Rose (Sandy Iuzzini); and his brother and sister Lawrence Rose (AnnMarie) and Lynne Sisto (Louis). He will also be missed by his grandchildren Christopher Rose, Stephen Forchielli, Nicole McClenny, Emily Rose and Nicholas Rose; his 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who all adored him.
Relatives and friends may call from 10:00am to 12:15pm, Monday June 10, 2024 at All Saints on the Hudson South Church (St. Paul's), 121 N. Main Street, Mechanicville, NY.
