Saratoga Springs, NY - Rosa Cornelia Anderson passed away on August 14 ^th , 2021 at the age of 96.  She was a feisty, no non-sense, straight shooter, who truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

Rosa was born to Thomas and Ida Scott on September 28, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA and was the youngest of three sisters.  She graduated from West Philadelphia High School and soon after gave birth to her lovely daughter Lydia A. Guy.

As an adult Rosa moved from Philadelphia, PA to Peekskill, NY to help take care of her parents and eventually settled down in Saratoga Springs, NY.  It was in Saratoga where she met and married her husband, Oscar "Oppie" Anderson, of 27 years before his passing in 2002. Together the two ran Burgess Inn, previously located on Congress Street, for over 30 years. Rosa was employed at General Electric Co, in Schenectady where she worked for many years until she retired.

Rosa was a laid back, reserved, often quiet woman who enjoyed sitting back and just observing people, but cross her and she had no problem putting you in your place. A New Yorker for many years, she always had a special place in her heart for her Philly sports teams.  A diehard baseball fan, you could always find her watching and cheering on her favorite baseball teams, her beloved Phillies and the Dodgers.  She had a zest for life and throughout her years enjoyed traveling, playing card games, but most of all socializing with others.  When it was still open you could regularly find her at Elks Lodge, Frederick Allen Lodge #609 on Beekman Street, sitting in her favorite spot at the end of the bar sipping on her vodka and orange juice or attending the many events given by The Mary A Carter Temple #362 in the same location.  From her slow eating to her laughter that often turned into tears of laughter, we will truly miss Rosa!

Rosa is survived by her daughter Lydia Guy of Philadelphia, two grandchildren Denine Guy of Philadelphia and Eugene Guy II and his wife Ta-Tanisha of Georgia and two great-grandchildren Sela and Eugene "Trey" Guy III and the numerous friends who were more like family.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 am Thursday, August 19 ^th , 2021 at William J Burke's & Son's Funeral Home, 628 N Broadway, Saratoga Springs.  Burial will follow 11am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
