Saratoga Springs, NY - Rose J. Arpey Draves passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 30, 2018. She was 95.
Born on July 27, 1922, Rose was a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs and was well known for the 60 years she practiced her passion as a beautician. Best recognized for her extensive knowledge of hair color, she was often called upon by other cosmetologists for advice.
Although her life was riddled with many hardships, Rose's wit, sense of humor and strong faith in God always brought her back a stronger person. She remained kind hearted and would be the first to help needy families whenever possible.
Rose was predeceased by her thirteen siblings; four infants, six brothers, Dominick, James, William, Patrick, Frank and Joseph Arpey and three sisters, Antoinette Bardino, Mamie Doty, Mary Pietruccia, and her beloved son, Rev. Fr. Neil Draves-Arpaia.
Survivors include her daughter Nadine Draves; grandchildren Paul Pugh II (Stacy), Jeffrey Pugh (Jennifer Rhodes) and Sarah Attanasio; great grandchildren Jordan and Julia Pugh and Adelyn Pierce, along with four generations of nephews and nieces.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public viewing for Rose.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday (April 6, 2018) in the historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, followed by burial in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
In lieu of flowers and Masses, memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Peter's Needy Association, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
