IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rose M.
(Terlizzi) Verro
August 8, 1933 – September 10, 2025
Saratoga Springs, NY – Rose M. (Terlizzi) Verro, formerly of Joseph St., died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday (Sep. 10, 2025 at Wesley Health Care Center; she was 92.
Born on Aug. 8, 1933 in Loon Lake, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Frances (DiTore) Terlizzi, was a 1951 graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Glens Falls and married James (Jim) Verro on Nov. 3, 1956 in St. Mary's Church, Glens Falls. Rose and Jim both owned and operated JD's Diner on Broadway, Saratoga Springs, from 1959 to 1965. She then worked at The Saratogian newspaper from 1965 to 1967.
Her dream job was with Skidmore College in the physical plant department for 25 years, retiring in May, 1993 and she always remained very proud of all the work she did for many years on campus.
Long active in the community, she was a member of Ladies of Charity Saratoga Vicariate, a founding member of Catholic Charities Festival of Trees and served 20 years as a Republican committeewoman.
Following her retirement, Rose worked at the Olde Bryan Inn as a hostess for four years. She spent many winters in Cape Coral, FL with her dear cousin RoseMarie Fortunata. Rose lived her life through her faith. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother, regularly recited the rosary and prayed her novenas daily for those she loved.
Especially most proud of her family, nothing made her happier than cooking for family and friends. Passing on the tradition of the seven fishes on Christmas Eve to her family gave her great joy.
More than anything, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her stories, lessons, guidance and love in their hearts. She had a way of making everyone feel special, whether it was through a warm meal at her table, a story from her past or the simple comfort of her presence.
We will miss her dearly, yet her legacy, faith and strength will remain with us forever.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband James D. Verro, Sr. in 1990; three brothers, Michael, Luis and Danny Terlizzi and one sister, Annette (Terlizzi) Monayudas.
Survived by two sons, James (Maryann) Verro and Vincent and daughter-in-law Colleen Verro, daughter-in-law Lorinda (Mark) McDonald, granddaughter Anne (Verro) Cohen and her husband Taylor; grandsons Joseph and Anthony Verro, two great-grandsons Grayson and Graham Cohen; many nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear friend Kathy Brower, who was like a daughter to her.
