Saratoga Springs, NY - Rose Marie Zacek, 74, a lifelong city resident died Monday, (Jan. 9, 2023) at Ellis Hospital.
Born on April 15, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Leon L. and Mary E. (Natale) Zacek and was a 1967 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School. A clerical worker with the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles for over 26 years, retiring in 1991, she became a caregiver for many families throughout Saratoga Springs. Ro was an attendant at the city's carousel in Congress Park and was an active communicant and parishioner of the Church of St. Peter. Her long list of community achievements included serving as a committee chairperson for the Saratoga Springs Republican Committee and the Executive Committee, where she held the title "Whip" for many years under the control of several chairmen. A member and past president of the Saratoga County Women's Republican Club, she was a founder and first president of the new West Side Neighborhood Association, instrumental in the much-needed revitalization of the West Side. Ro was also actively involved with Court McLaughlin #422 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Ladies of Charity Saratoga Vicariate and Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge #161. She was a past state president and past president of Dominick Smaldone Post #35 ITAM Ladies Auxiliary as well as a member and past president of the Principessa Elena Women's Society.
Rose Marie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her family.
Survivors include her brother Leon "Lee" Zacek and his wife Elaine, nieces Sara E. Zacek and Katie Duvall, great nephew Steven Zacek and a great-great niece Elaina Zacek, all of Fredericksburg, VA, many cousins and her lifelong dear friend, Toni Provo Sabella of Peta Luma, CA.
In addition to her parents, Rose is predeceased by her uncles Joseph (Des), Anthony (Baldie), Daniel (Fish), Albert (Bert) and Louis (Duke) Natale and her aunts Philomena (Mamie) and Angeline (Julie) Natale.
Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30am Monday (Jan. 16, 2023) in the historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway. A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30am by Rev. Thomas H. Chevalier, pastor. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
Memorial contributions in her name are requested and may be made to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter, 6010 County Farm Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
