IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosemary Elizabeth
Chiddo
April 26, 1928 – December 13, 2018
Saratoga Springs - Rosemary Elizabeth (Field) Chiddo, age 90, died peacefully on Dec. 13, 2018 in Saratoga Springs, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph. They were married for 64 years, which is a testament to their devotion to each other.
Rosemary was born on April 26, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to Harry and Rose (Ryan) Field. She grew up surrounded by her loving family, including her three sisters, Anne (Jerry), Harriett (Tony) and Regina (John). She attended St. Mary Gate of Heaven elementary school and Dominican Commercial H.S. in Queens. Upon graduation, Rosemary became a career woman working for AT&T in Brooklyn. After raising her family, she went back to work at the Duty-Free Shop at JFK Airport, where she loved to interact with people from all over the world.
She started a life-long love affair with Joseph Chiddo, who she married on September 30, 1950. They spent part of their honeymoon in Saratoga Springs, not knowing that 40 years later they would live there. They settled in Ozone Park, NY, where they raised their four children.
Rosemary was active in the community and volunteered at St. Mary Gate of Heaven Church and Meals on Wheels. She had circles of friends in New York and Florida, where she and Joe spent many winters.
Rosemary will be remembered as a woman who took the best care of her family and showed by example, what it meant to be a wife, mother and friend. She passed on her love for cooking, travel and adventure to her children. With Joe, she traveled the world from camping trips across the US to trips to more exotic locations such as France, Italy and Egypt. In later years, she traveled by herself to visit her children in California, Zurich, Hawaii and Japan. She was always up for an adventure! She made friends wherever she went and soaked up all the local history, culture and food.
Rosemary is survived by daughters Jane Sanzen of Saratoga Springs, Susan Kobara (Mitch) of Carlsbad, CA, Nancy Nicole of Zurich, Switzerland and son David Chiddo (Mayuko) of Tokyo, Japan and Kona, Hawaii. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Lindsay Lantz (Jeff), Julia Sanzen, Gia Kobara, Charlotte Nicole, Kelly Nicole, Anna Kobara, Joseph Kobara, Malina Chiddo and Kai Chiddo and two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Henley.
