Obituary

Middle Grove, NY - Rosemary Munter (Lane), 83, passed on June 30, 2024 from dementia related complications. She died peacefully at her home surrounded by her caring husband and loving family.

Rosemary was born on February 27, 1941 in Schenectady, NY. She graduated from Niskayuna High School and attended Katherine Gibbs Business College in Boston, MA. Rosemary married John Munter on July 13, 1963. They met at General Electric in Schenectady, where Rosemary worked as an executive assistant. Rosemary and John spent 3 years living in the Burlington, VT area before they settled in Middle Grove, NY, where they raised their family.

While raising her family, Rosemary managed the accounting and finances for the family business, Munter Enterprises. Rosemary also worked as a secretary at St. Joseph's Church in Greenfield, NY and served as the organist at St. Paul's Church in Rock City Falls. She volunteered regularly, and held several positions including President of the Saratoga Hospital Guild and Member of the Board of Directors at Wesley Nursing Home.

Rosemary's past times throughout the years included singing, piano, reading, skiing, bridge, sudoku and gardening. Rosemary was an avid reader. She spent many an afternoon entrenched in murder mysteries and historical fiction novels. Early in her marriage, she and John skied throughout Vermont with friends. Skiing became a central activity for the family. The family skied locally and traveled out West and to Europe several times for vacations.  For over 30 years, Rosemary and John enjoyed summers at their camp on Lake Champlain where they hosted an annual family reunion for their nieces and nephews.  Rosemary's fondest memories were of summer beach vacations with John, her children, their spouses and the grandchildren in Cape May, NJ.

Rosemary is survived by her husband John, her children Erika of Montclair, NJ, John Edward (Cindy) of Middle Grove, NY and Mike (Lisa) of Middle Grove, NY. Rosemary's pride and joy were her six grandchildren: Will Weiss, Gabriel Munter, Tyler Munter, Nathan Weiss, Anneliese Munter and Jacob Munter.  She is predeceased by her brother, Fred Lane (Swanee, GA).

Her family and friends will miss Rosemary's deadpan sense of humor, which shined especially bright in her final days, and her legendary organizational skills that ensured every activity and event ran like clockwork.

John and the family are very grateful to the staff at Saratoga Hospital, Community Hospice and the home healthcare professionals whose care and kindness brought Rosemary comfort in her final days.

A private service for the family will be held at Burke Funeral Home, followed by an informal open house Celebration of Life at The Saratoga Winery (462 Rt 29, Saratoga Springs, NY) on Friday, July 5 from12-4pm. Come as you are to share memories of Rosemary with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Franklin Community Center , the Saratoga Hospital Foundation or The Wesley Community .
