Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY- Ruth V. Dargin, born on April 17, 1942, entered the Lord's arms on January 16, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her loving parents, William and Sabina (Swital) Dargin, preceded her in death. She was a longtime resident of Salem and Ballston Spa, New York.

Ruth's journey began in Brooklyn, where she embarked on a path that touched the lives of many. A graduate of Drake Business School, Ruth started her secretarial career at the 1964 World's Fair, where her nimble fingers earned her the reputation of being the fastest typist, clocking in at over 120 words per minute. She also mastered the lost art of Stenography, showcasing her dedication and skill to her profession.

Ruth's devotion extended to her loving daughters, Roxanne Nabozny (Thomas) and Constance Spiezio Smith. She leaves a legacy of love to her grandchildren, Ryan Smith (Laura), Clinton Jay Birdsall (Krystyna), and Kaylin Bessler (Michael), who brought immense joy to her life. Ruth was blessed to share in the lives of her four great-granddaughters, Amelia and Evelina Bessler, Solomyia Birdsall, and Leonora Smith.

A devout Catholic, Ruth found solace in daily prayer, believing in the power of faith. She was an avid reader, immersing herself in true crime, mysteries, biographies, and novels of far-off places. Ruth's grandchildren knew that sending books would always be a treasured gift.

Ruth was a gourmet cook and baking enthusiast, sharing her goodies generously with all; she started a long tradition of gifting Christmas cookies. Ruth also compiled a family favorites cookbook. The family listened to her play the piano during many memorable gatherings.

Ruth's compassion extended to animals, and when called upon, she especially loved caring for her friend's kitty, Lexi, who passed away on the same day. In honoring Ruth's wishes, she will be cremated, and a celebration of her life will take place in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Friends Saratoga County Animal Shelter; PO Box 788, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or https://friendsofscas.org/.
