Saratoga Springs, NY - Ruth Ann Sanders Gifford passed away on Friday March 31 ^st in Saratoga Springs, New York at Wesley Health Care Center. She was 102 years old.

Ruth was born on May 8, 1920 in Syracuse, New York. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles "Chuck" Gifford, who was also from Syracuse. They moved to Newark, New York in 1946, where they raised their two children, James and Deborah. Later in life, Ruth and Chuck moved to Saratoga Springs and Ruth also moved to Nantucket to be with family and then returned to Saratoga in 2019.

Of all of the places she traveled to, Ruth's favorite place was Prinyers Cove on Lake Ontario, Canada where her family spent many summers, sharing time with her three sisters and their respective families.

Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. She was an avid bird watcher, loved trees and the fall foliage. Autumn was her favorite time of year.

Ruth and Chuck loved to dance and their favorite singer was Frank Sinatra. To Ruth's dying day, she could still sing his songs!

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Charles Gifford and her sister Helen Demong. She is survived by her two sisters Elizabeth Smith, 106 and Mary Pierce, 100; children James Gifford and wife Judith; Deborah Dooley and husband John; grandchildren Beth Smith and husband Jake; Jason Gifford and wife Annette; Travis Lombardi and wife Adriene; Brennan Dooley and wife Holly; and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial family service will be held this Fall.
