Hadley, NY – Ruth Louise Varney died Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Hadley Ira surrounded by the people who loved her. She was 93.

Born April 8, 1925 in Corinth, she was the daughter of the late Edward B. and Rachel Pickett Varney. Ruth resided with Debbie and Jerry Barrett of Gansevoort for several years. She then relocated to the Hadley Ira where she was a GIFT to everyone she came in contact with. She was an active member of the Saratoga Bridges Day Hab Program in Wilton for many years. Ruth had an immense joy for life. She enjoyed needlepoint, playing on her tablet, coloring, sewing, word work books, caring for her babies, joking with her loved ones and her favorite Channel 6 soap operas and game shows. She loved and treasured animals, especially her dog Deanna and cat Fat Boy.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her sister Tilly Varney, her brother Robert Varney and several other family members.

Ruth leaves behind Deborah and Gerald Barrett, Charlotte Mosso, her extended family and many lifelong friends.

Relatives and friends may call from 11am to 12 noon, Tuesday July 10, 2018 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373). A funeral service will follow at 12 noon.

Burial will be in Corinth Rural Cemetery, Corinth.
