Saratoga Springs - Samuel "Sid" Gordon, 94, a resident of Saratoga Springs died on February 2, 2024, at Wesley Health Care Center.
Sid was born on August 14, 1929, in Saratoga Springs, the son of Morris and Naomi Gordon and lived in Saratoga Springs for most of his life.
He served as a military policeman in the Army during World War II and received the Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. One of his duties during his service in Japan was guarding the emperor. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans Association of Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties, and was proud to serve as the chaplain for many years.
In addition to his parents and brothers, David and Larry, Sid was predeceased by his nephew, Larry Gordon and niece, Laurie Zeh.
Sid is survived by his beloved wife, partner and friend, Helen Gordon; children, Maureen Erickson of Syracuse, Rhonda Aydlett of Charleston, SC, Tim Gordon of Syracuse, Richard Weber of Florida, NY, William Weber of Reno, NV, and Susan Suffolk (Randy) of Atlanta, GA; as well nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He leaves behind countless lives he has touched during his lifetime.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Congregation Shaara Tfille, 84 Weibel Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Burial with military honors will follow in the Jewish Community Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Congregation Shaara Tfille for the maintenance of the cemetery or to the Disabled Veterans Association of Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties .
