Saratoga Springs, NY - Sandra Frankel-Proler of Claire Pass died suddenly Monday, Dec. 22, 2008. She was 57. Born on June 23, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of late Leslie and Florence Wise Frankel. Sandra and her life-long friend, Barbara owned and operated Frankel Jewelers in Saratoga Springs for 28 years, retiring in 2005. She was known to many of her customers as a truly caring and compassionate person. Sandy had a sense of humor that put a smile on everyone who came in contact with her. Sandy's love for animals was known by all who knew her. The relationship she had with her dog Arnie was quite unique.She was an avid supporter and volunteer at the Saratoga County Animal Shelter in Ballston Spa. She enjoyed spending time golfing at McGregor Country Club where she was a member of the ladies association.She was an avid gardener and loved to travel. Sandy's love for life attracted many friends from all walks of life. She will leave a void in many lives. Sandy was a devoted and loving wife to her husband Ron of Saratoga Springs.Survivors include her husband, her brother, Mark Frankel and his wife Beverly of Williamsburg, VA; nephew and niece, Leslie and Julia Frankel; step-son David Proler and his wife Mary of Bellingham, MA; grandson Sam Proler; best friends, Barbara and Russ Terpening and Barbara Gramatikas and daughter Alex. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373).
