Sandy met Lou in 1952 at a house party for students at Brooklyn College and City College of New York. Lou and Sandy were married in 1953. Lou's career took Sandy from Washington, D.C. to Waltham, MA, to Commack, NY to Detroit, MI, and to Bennington, VT. Lou and Sandy moved to Saratoga Springs where they have spent the last 23 years.
Sandy loved to cook especially for her grandchildren. They loved when she made them the snake cookies. Sandy was an accomplished sewer and quilter. Her children, grandchildren, and others have beautiful quilts that she made for them. Sandy taught so many people how to quilt and she always signed her quilts with Let's Go Mets.
Sandy was an avid baseball fan who went to high school with Sandy Koufax. She never forgave the Brooklyn Dodgers when they left NY but she did become a loyal NY Mets fan. Even though, Lou and Sandy lived in VT, they had season tickets to the home games.
Sandy was a member of the Organization for Rehabilitation through Training (ORT) and for a few years, she was a 4-H leader. She stopped being a 4-H leader when she realized Susan was not 4-H material. Sandy always had her nose in a book as she loved to read. Her children realized that when they wanted something, they would ask her when she was reading because she always said yes. Sandy loved to play and teach others how to play mahjong.
