Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Scott Krulcik, 22, passed away suddenly from natural causes in his office at Google, New York City, on Friday, December 7, 2018, where he was a Software Engineer.

Scott, who grew up in Saratoga Springs, was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School (Class of 2014) and Carnegie Mellon University (Class of 2018). Some of his favorite pastimes were volunteering with children, learning, telling people about technology and military history, eating cookies, meeting friends for hot chocolate at Uncommon Grounds, and watching the sunset every day.

During his 22 years, Scott left an impact on so many people with his loving ways and how he approached each day. His character was admirable: a blend of kindness, selflessness, intelligence, humility, and thoughtfulness. There are so many stories that describe Scott's wonderful soul. For example, during one finals week at Carnegie Mellon, Scott stopped to build a snowman and recommended everyone do the same. He was known for his homemade chocolate chip cookies and enthusiasm for desserts. He inspired people to read books, listen to all perspectives, and take care of others.

Scott enjoyed woodworking. He built a beautiful desk with his great-grandfather's hand tools, designed to be taken apart, and to fit in a duffel bag. He put the desk in his N.Y.C. apartment facing the Freedom Tower. Scott's other hobbies included hiking, running, skiing, and using his knowledge to create electronics at home.

Scott is survived by his loving parents, Bob and Tracey (Barbagallo) Krulcik of Saratoga Springs, NY, his big sister, Kristi Krulcik of San Francisco, CA; his beloved dog, Rocky; maternal grandparents, June Sano of Glenmont and Paul Barbagallo of East Greenbush; paternal grandparents James and the late Mary Ann (Green) Krulcik of Delmar; paternal great-grandmother Mary (Krochta) Krulcik of Piney Fork, OH; Aunt Karen (Krulcik) and Uncle Dave Veltman, cousin Brandon A. Smith, Aunt Amanda Barbagallo; great aunts and uncles Peg and Keith Johansen, Pat Guzy, Shirley and Ned Norton, and numerous other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and loved ones too many to mention.

Scott was a guide, a light on how to live, how to love. He is an inspiration to us all. We love you, Scotty. You will be missed.
