Saratoga Springs, NY - Sharon A. Smalley of Davidson Dr. died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 60. Born on Jan. 12, 1948 in Saratoga Springs, she is the daughter of Gertrude (Parkhurst) and her step-father Irvin Collins and the late Frank Brownell. She owned and operated Sharon Dry Cleaners for 25 years with her husband, the late Jim Smalley, which was one of her proudest accomplishments, second to being a loving and caring grandmother. Sharon enjoyed the people she worked with at Skidmore College and also sharing the company of her many dogs. Most of all, she was a proud and doting grandmother to Brian, Jack and Michael. While we will all miss her dearly, she has found a peace she so desperately wanted in the loving arms of her husband Jim. Sharon was of the Episcopal faith. In addition to her father Frank Brownell and husband James Smalley, Sharon is predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Ann Smalley. Survivors include her daughter Stacie Dayton and husband Brian of Virginia Beach, VA; her son James Smalley and wife Carrie and their sons Henry and Benjamin of Clifton Park; and the greatest joys of her life her "Prince" Brian, Jack and Michael Dayton; her sister Sandra Miller and husband Russell of Ballston Spa and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 1 to 4pm Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A funeral service will be held Monday Nov. 10, 2008 at 2pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot at Maplewood Cemetery, Weibel Ave. and Loudon Rd. The family would like thank the doctors and surgeons at Albany Medical Center including Dr. Darling, Dr. Chang and Dr. Bonville.
