IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheila V.
Levo
July 9, 1939 – December 28, 2020
Saratoga Springs - Sheila V. Levo, 81, entered eternal peace on December 28, 2020.
Born on July 9, 1939 in Saratoga Springs, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Isabel (Holbrook) Verrigni. She graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1957 and the following year married her late husband of 53 years, Robert B. Levo. She worked as a telephone operator as they raised their first two daughters. Given her determination and keen intellect, she had little difficulty obtaining her degree to become a registered nurse in 1967. She began her nursing career at St. Clements Redemptorist Infirmary where she worked until the birth of her third daughter. Sheila took a couple of years off to raise her children before returning to work as a private duty nurse. This afforded her the experience to begin her tenure at Saratoga Hospital as a nurse on the medical/surgical unit where her bright smile, kind heart, enduring compassion and soft demeanor served her well. Sheila took a brief break from nursing, to keep the books for Dr. Paul Okosky, before returning to work as a registered nurse for New York State, where she later retired. Sheila was also a very accomplished seamstress and an avid crafter, teaching herself many things over the years. There was no task that she could not conquer as her sharp mind was present until the very end. Although Sheila was an independent woman who lived on her own, she could often be found with her family, as she was a dedicated mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed a lifelong relationship of love and support.
Sheila is survived by her three loving daughters and their husbands, Tammy Bailey (Scott), Roberta Thomas (Donald) and Sheila Zarrella (Antonio), a sister Leanora Rocha of Ballston Spa, a brother Mitchell Murray (Sherrey) of Linville, NC and a sister-in-law Pauline Levo. She was also a very devoted grandmother to her five cherished grandchildren: Laura Podesva, Salvatore Zarrella, Sabina Zarrella, Antonio Zarrella Jr., and Austin Robert Thomas who knew her as his "Mimi," as she was incredibly involved in raising him to adulthood. We all feel extraordinarily blessed to have had her in our lives and she will live forever in our hearts and souls.
"Riposa in pace con gli angeli."
Sheila's family would also like to extend their deepest heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors and nurses that have cared for her over the years. They would especially like to thank the entire staff in the Intensive Care Unit at Saratoga Hospital for their kindness, care, and compassion during this most difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in memory of Sheila may be made to the Saratoga Hospital Foundation, 211 Church St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Given the environment in which we are currently living, a celebration of Sheila's life will be planned later, when we may all safely gather to share our remembrances.
Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs(518-584-5373).
Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneralhome.com
