Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY Sherrill G. (Bunky) Cudney, of Northway Court and formerly of Lincoln Avenue, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital. He was 79. Born on July 29, 1931 in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of the late Edmund C. and Arlene (Rice) Cudney. A lifelong resident, he was a 1950 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and a 1952 graduate of the State University of New York Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in White Plains, NY. Bunk married the love of his life Barbara Lynett on April 24, 1954. He went to work for the General Electric Company at the Malta test site in Sept. 1952 retiring from GE Large Motors and Generators in Schenectady in 1988. Retirement was not to his liking so he worked at D'Andrea's Liquor Store and for the past 15 years at Purdy's Discount Wines and Liquors where co-workers and customers became his good friends for life. Bunk also worked as a mutual clerk at Saratoga Harness Track for many years. A member of the Moosewood Hunting Club at Harrisburg Lake, NY for 35 years, he was also a life member of Saratoga Council 246 Knights of Columbus Third Degree and of Saratoga Assembly 745 Knights of Columbus Forth Degree. He was a lifelong communicant of the Church of St. Peter and volunteered, along with his wife Barbara, as a tabulator of the parishs weekly collections for many years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Amy Beth Cudney, who died in 1971. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Barbara (Lynett) Cudney; three children, Michael G. Cudney and his life partner Keith Kelly of New York City, Timothy E. Cudney of Anchorage, Alaska and Jeanne A. (Timothy) Howe of Gansevoort; three grandsons, Timothy W. and Kyle J. Howe and Christopher Cudney Kelly and one cousin, Beverlee Luce Fuller of Lake Luzerne, NY. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8pm Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway 584-5373. The Knights of Columbus will meet at 6:30pm at the funeral home for their services. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30am Friday, April 22, 2011 in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, by the Very Rev. Dominic S. Ingemie, pastor. The Rite of Committal will follow in the family plot at St. Peters Cemetery, West Ave. Memorials may be made in Bunk's name to St. Peter's Needy Association, c/o The Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
