Saratoga Springs, New York - Shirley Lavine, 91, of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully October 24, 2018 after a short illness, surrounded by loved ones.  Daughter of the late Sam and Bessy Lavine, Shirley was born and raised in Saratoga.

A graduate of Skidmore College, she was a pioneering female journalist for CBS News and the first woman network producer in early American television.

From NYC she relocated to Washington, DC and eventually back to her hometown.  An honest, brilliant and caring person, she was admired and respected by friends and family alike.

Shirley will be missed by her surviving cousins and grand cousins as well as her exceptional caretakers, Lisa Cilenti, Christine Bentley, Linda Stallard, Laurie Ruggiero, Mary Limmer, Andrea Porter and Sheri Williams.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM today, October 26, 2018 at Congregation Shaara Tfille, 84 Weibel Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY
