Gansevoort, NY - Shirley Henrietta Speed Landsperger Richards, of Jacob Drive, passed away Wednesday (April 7, 2010) at her residence. She was 75. Born on Sept. 5, 1934 in Oneco, CT, she was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Bessie (Congdon) Speed and grew up in Plainfield, CT. A 1973 graduate of Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing, she worked as a registered nurse at Saratoga Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 2004. An active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Hudson River Piece Makers Quilters Guild, she was an avid bowler. She also had volunteered at the Saratoga Hospital Ambulatory unit for several years. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husbands, George Landsperger and D. Hugh Richards and a brother, Ronald Speed. Survivors include her children, Albert (Janice) Landsperger of SC, Laura (Brian) Gibbins and Sandra (William) Coffey, all of Greenfield Center, Beth (Floyd) Mosher of Corinth and Sharon Crofoot of Day; 11 grandchildren and 14 1/2 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call from 1:30 to 2:30pm Saturday afternoon at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373), followed by a funeral service at 2:30pm.
