Saratoga Springs, NY - Sophie I. Goldstein,102, passed away peacefully at her North St. home on May 14, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Tula, Russia on November 6, 1909 and moved to Saratoga Springs with her late husband, Dr. George Goldstein in 1939. She was loved and adored by her three children, Louise J. Goldstein, Saratoga Springs, Barbara Goldstein Proctor, New York City and Saratoga Springs, and Geoffrey Goldstein, Albany, Ca. She was also cherished by her daughter-in-law, Deena Brown, her three grandaughters, Gabrielle Tayac, Takoma Park, Md., Georgina Grimm and Kate James of Ca. and her great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Jansikwe Medina-Tayac. Sophie worked as a professional librarian but was most passionate about being the Jewish Historian of Saratoga Springs for many years. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday, at Shaara Tfille, 84 Weibel Ave., Saratoga Springs.
