Stillwater, NY - Stephen J. Anuszewski, 87, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.
Born and raised in Halfmoon, NY, on April 5, 1939, Stephen was a man defined by his hard work and his unwavering dedication to his family. A resident of Stillwater, NY, Stephen was a farmer for most of his life. He held a deep connection to the land and a love for the outdoors. Stephen was also a familiar face within the Shenendehowa Central School District, where he served the community for 64 years in various roles, including mechanic, bus driver, and security guard.
When he wasn’t working, Stephen could often be found gardening, farming, or "tinkering" around the garage. He was an avid fan of the LA Dodgers and found great joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Stephen was predeceased by his first wife of 53 years, Shirley (DeCelle) Anuszewski; his parents, Steven and Theodora Anuszewski; his brother, Edward Anuszewski; and his son-in-law, Kenneth McCune.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Allen-Anuszewski, and his children: Terrie (Ed) Pingelski, Susan (Norman) Collins, Stephen Anuszewski, Jr., and Barbara McCune. He also leaves behind his brother, Felix (Virginia) Anuszewski, as well as 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly and who lovingly knew him as “Joe Joe.”
Stephen’s legacy of service, craftsmanship, and family devotion will be missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing doctors and staff at Saratoga Hospital for the compassionate care and support provided to Stephen and his family during his final days.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
